As a member of the EU and if you are on the WRS (see Work section) you may be entitled to accommodation provided by the local government (authority/council). This is rented accommodation belonging to a Housing Association or Council Housing. To apply for this accommodation, you need to put your name on the Housing Register. You are not eligible to be on the Housing Register if you or your immediate family have accommodation in another country or in another part of the UK. You need to satisfy the criteria of the Council that you are eligible. For example as a worker from an EU country you will need to prove you are on the WRS or have an EEA1 Registration (see Work section). Please note that there is a waiting list for these homes. If you would like to apply for a Housing Association home or a Council House, contact your Local District Council. You can also contact the Citizens Advice Bureau for assistance. (See Useful Contacts & Advice section). |
