DENTAL CARE SERVICES

There are two kinds of dental care services: those run privately and those run by the National Health Services (NHS).  Those run by the NHS are subsidised by the Government and are not as expensive as privately run dental care.

You can find lists of the local NHS Dental Practices at:

PALS, Southgate House, Devizes

www.nhs.uk/england/dentists - follow the link to ‘Registering NHS patients search’ and enter your post code

NHS Direct on 0845 4647 (if you would like to speak in Polish, say the word ‘Polish’ and wait and someone will speak to you in that language)

It is advisable to register with a dentist when you first arrive in Wiltshire.

All NHS dental treatment costs are set by the Government and will be the same at all NHS practices. This excludes any private treatments you and your dentist decide upon.

Treatment is free for those who are:
Under 18 or aged 18 and in full time education
Pregnant or have had a baby within the last 12 months
Receiving certain types of benefits or tax/child credits

Private Dental Care
Private dentists can also provide you with treatment, although the cost of this may be higher than NHS charges. Details of local private dentists can be found in the telephone book.

Urgent Dental Care
If you are registered with a dentist, you can go to them for urgent dental care.  If you are not registered with a dentist but are in a lot of pain, you can contact the Dental Advice Line on 0845 7581926.  Telephoning on this phone is in English only.

However, when you book an appointment you can request that an interpreter be present during your appointment.  If you change your mind and do not want the appointment, please let them know in good time so that someone else can have your appointment and the interpreter need not come.
